About this course

This course provides participants with the knowledge and skills required to work near the Energex underground electricity network.


  • Apply legislated obligations to working safely on or in proximity to underground cables and equipment.
  • Explain fundamental electrical principles.
  • Discuss the relationship between transmission, distribution and rail systems, underground and overhead supply systems.
  • Recognise different types of electrical equipment.
  • Identify and manage environmental issues

Course Training & Outcomes


With successful completion of the training, participants will be issued with a Certificate of Completion and be able to apply to become an Energex “Authorised Person”, please head to the Energex Website forms page under “General” for Authorised person forms.

Training Requirements & What To Bring

  • High Risk Work Licence assessments can only be undertaken at the age of 18 years or over
  • PPE must be worn by students attending the course on all occasions. This includes steel cap boots, long pants, long sleeves, (high vis shirt if possible otherwise long sleeves with a high vis vest) and a safety hard hat. For dogging, rigging & scaffolding courses, students are required to bring gloves and safety glasses
  • Applicants will be required to have a basic knowledge and understanding of the English language

Please bring the following to your course:

  • Current High Risk Work Licence (if applicable)
  • Photo ID i.e. Queensland or Interstate Driver’s Licence or Passport
  • Unique Student Identifier (USI) is required prior to course commencement – please bring USI number to course
  • Logbooks, Statements of Attainment or other training records (if applicable)

WH&S More Skills will provide all general training equipment i.e. notes, logbooks and training plans, calculators and pens. For dogging and rigging courses. whistles will also be supplied
