Construction Skills Queensland – Skills Assessment & Gap Training

Experience counts, particularly when it’s formally recognised.  If members of your general or civil construction workforce have learnt their skills on the job but don’t hold a formal qualification, perhaps Skills Assessment and Gap Training (SAGT) is right for them.

It will make a difference to their future and to yours too. With trained and skilled workers in your team, your business can become more competitive and productive.

The first stage of SAGT will see your worker’s skills and abilities ‘mapped’ against a nationally recognised qualification. They will then go on to undertake gap training required to gain a nationally recognised qualification.

For the 2017-18 programme, which runs from 1st Oct 2017 to 30th Sep 2018, each eligible participant is able to access up to one (1) CSQ funded SAGT qualification (listed below).

For the purposes of eligibility, participants under this agreement must meet the following criteria.

To be eligible to enrol in the SAGT program, prospective students must be:

(a)   An Eligible worker; and
(b)   An Existing worker; OR
(c)   A Career Seeker;

AND MUST BE:

(a)   An Australian or New Zealand Citizen; OR
(b)   A permanent resident of Australia; OR
(c)   A refugee and humanitarian visa holder.

AND MUST:

An Existing Worker is a current Employee in the Building and Construction Industry who has a one month or more employment relationship with their Employer.  The working relationship can be built up through full-time, part-time or casual employment or engagement as a contracted worker.
